Southwest Runners is a small business located in Farmington, New Mexico. Jerry Hogue, the owner, has been in business for several successful years now. Her store sells name brand running shoes from Mizuno to Brooks. She also has a small variety of clothing wear to runners who are looking for quality athletic wear. I was able to interview Mrs. Hogue and ask about her marketing strategies, and what she has done to advertise her small business.

According to Mrs. Hogue she started off by advertising in the local news paper (The Daily Times). After that she was able to promote her business name on local fundraiser shirts. Which led to buying a banner to support a local high school team in Farmington New Mexico. She later gave discounts to many of the local cross country runners that compete in the high school level. Mrs. Hogue was finally able to host a 10k run which promoted her small business along with doing something Mrs. Hogue loves to do and that is run. The first place runner for this 10k run received a free shoe from her store.

Although it may seem Mrs. Hogue has advertised every where in Farmington, her biggest advertisement for her small business of course is the internet. Where everyone from anywhere can be updated on the latest deals, or shipments that have arrived in her store. Right now she only does marketing on Facebook where she can hit multiple people from across the county at once. Which is a great way to advertise because today many people have a Facebook account. However, to make this method more successful I researched a few helpful tips for advertising over Facebook that I think might work. The link is down below.

Helpful tips

I would like to recommend uploading more videos and pictures of the races you hold. Letting people see you in action, and getting involved with your community. This shows viewers how organized along with how active you are with your business.  Showing where your club ran at today or yesterday. Capturing all the people that participate in this friendly Southwest Running group daily. Not only just the club but also the meets that you hold. Taking pictures and uploading them onto your Facebook page so people know that your business is more than just a shoe store. Let your customer know you are there for there health needs also by letting them know your run club is free to everyone. So grow your business by connecting with network and social media to you can generate more likes and more people to share your page.  I hope this gives some tips to getting your business known through facebook and giving your business a boost to open up for more customers to come to your store.
